Ok so i recently turned 23.
And i feel old already.
I remember a time where i used to look forward to things and be able to talk about this thing called "stuff i do for leisure / hobbies". I feel like im underachieving now. I was just updating my resume and i realised that i dont really know how to fill in the "interests" section.
Sometimes i wonder whether i will be able to start a family and provide for them. Seems difficult to do especially when times are only getting harder right..
But nevermind, take things one at a time.
For now i think i better start looking for a girlfriend hahaha!
A few days back i was watching Apple unveil its new iPhone 5. Just watching Philip Schiller (senior VP worldwide marketing) presents makes me go wow. Not so much the content but more the way he speaks. I dream of being able to stand in front of a large group and speak like him (maybe that's a target from now on).
Communication is so important a function in our daily lives (now where have we heard that before?). Such a cliche statement but very true nonetheless. When people say technology brought the world closer, it also means that we're losing ground on direct communication. Counter-intuitive? Think of it; everywhere you go you see more and more people typing into their phones. Yea sure you could talk to someone from miles away, but it also means we are speaking less to one another directly. And worse for Singaporeans, some of us cannot find the discipline to minimise the use of Singlish in a professional environment.
Its easy for us to relate to one another with a colloquial locals are comfortable with, but let me put things in perspective for you. Imagine an airplane setting where the flight attendant serves you:
"Excuse me, can i get you anything to drink?"
"Ya can i have Pepsi?"
"I'm sorry we don't serve Pepsi. We only have Coca-cola. Is that alright?"
"Also can."
"I beg your pardon??"
OWNED. If you don't want to be that fella, do yourself a favour and train yourself to adapt to the suitable language in all settings.
Ok im done with my 2 cents.
To everyone who can appreciate this, sometimes the people who don't seem to care are the ones who used to care too much.
just stay a little while,
and hear me say
